Ok, so I have two computers. Computer 1 is equipped with vista, 2 has xp.
Now, I had a network set up and running for a long time now, however I had to reformat xp.

Now, I am having such a hard time having the computers see eachother!

-LLTD installed on XP
-Both computers part of workgroup HOME
-Network discovery, file sharing, public folder sharing on Vista is turned on
-Private network
-Computers can ping each other

Both computers can connect the the internet, they just can't see each other. Help required!

Try this in Windows XP turn off simple file sharing. Then right-click a folder/drive you want to share and click share on the menu. That will open a properties box with sharing tab activated. Click the share button and add your users and permissions for the share. This link should help with turning on simple file sharing...................

Thanks for the info. However, just when I was about to do that, I saw the other computer....

I can see the computer now.........but I didn't change anything at all.

Any idea why? This is confusing me now, because I did not change anything.

So, now I can see the other computer..but I can't access it. (need to get to printer).

When I click on the computer it gives me an error.

Windows cannot access \\*insert name here*

Check the spelling of the name. Otherwise, there might be a problem with your network. To try to identify and resolve network problems, click Diagnose.

So I click diagnose, and this is what it tells me.

"name" is not a valid host name

Check the spelling of the name, make sure the computer is turned on, and connected to the network or contact your network administrator.

Yet, the computer is there, its on the map and everything...

OK, I solved the above problem. It was a firewall issue.

But now I have another problem. Nothing prints! All firewalls are turned off.
I try to print a document. I open up the printer window, it says by document is spooling...then nothing. It just stays there. I can access the printer from my computer, change prefs and stuff, but nothing prints.

I don't know what to do now, it is ticking me off.
