Hi. I have a notebook computer with a USB network adapter. It connects to the network ok, and I can see shares on other computers. The problem is with Internet Explorer. It keeps saying the page can't be found. Oddly enough, after I ping 192.168.1.1 (my router), Internet Explorer starts working just fine.
I'm thinking this might be a DNS problem? I read in another post a while back about deleting the DNS lists in windows, but I can't find it again. Could this be the problem?

Any help is appreciated!

I'm just using what Road Runner assigns me. It works great for all the other computers in the house.

Are the DNS numbers in the same order on all the machines?

Can you get to the site with the IP everytime?

The Router should take care of your External IP, and DNS (Road Runner).

How your Internal IPs are assigned?

Also, make sure that the Laptop IE is set to LAN.

The only IPs I can connect to at first are only internal. After I connect to something internal, it decides to work externally (usually).
Internal IP's are assigned through the routers DHCP.
I have gone through IE's setup several times telling it to connect through a LAN.
