Anyone willing to help out a 17 year old networking rookie?
Here is my situation. I am helping a local community service center assemble a lab of about 20 computers. I have already setup the lab of 20 computers through 10 megabit hubs. They are networked together but I need a WAN Uplink. They have adsl installed in their office which is the next door over. Pacbell installed a 4 port Cayman 3220H Series router for them, to share DSL among the 4 computers located in the office. Keep in mind that the Cayman router is a complete Dsl solution, which means it has a built in modem. They want the SMC Barricade Router to serve as a printer server for the 4 computers IN THE OFFICE. The only way I can connect the barricade to the cayman is through the WAN uplink from the barricade into one of the cayman's ports. So here is the situation basically. I need to hook up the SMC Barricade Router to the Cayman Router. The 4 computers in the office will be hooked up to the Barricade, so it will be full. The barricade will need to be hooked up to the Cayman in order to maintain the DSL connection. Is that possible? I've tried setting the Cayman as a gateway and then having the SMC connect to the Cayman through static ip but to no avail. Any gurus out there willing to help me out? It's really hard to explain, but basically like I said, the 4 office computers into the Barricade, the Barricade WAN into the Cayman. The cayman will have 3 ports leftover, but I plan to cat5 into the 10megabit hubs for the 20 computers next door, so that they can also have DSL. Is it possible? Thanks guys!
