Networking MacMini and a windows box over Airport extreme

I recently bought my first mac - a mini and have my PC and the mini hooked up to the internet via an airport extreme. I would like to try and transfer files from my PC to Mac and Vice versa and have no clue how to go about this. A few tutorials I came across on the net are not very clear. Any help in this regard is appreciated. Thanks.

Is your Mini running Tiger or Leopard and is your PC running XP or Vista?

These are both very important to know, since IMO, it is really easy to get files off the Mac if it is running Leopard (10.5), not quite as easy if it is running Tiger (10.4).

The absolutely easiest way is just to share a folder in XP. Using this folder, you can share files from both computers. Make sure that your local LAN is added to the allow list if you are running a firewall like ZoneAlarm. Here are some instructions that include Tiger:
