I've got a windows server in my house. I just copied an 8GB file and it took almost an hour. This is a transfer using two computers both with GbE. That was pretty rediculous, so I used remote desktop to connect to my server and tried a similar transfer, this time a 650MB file. So here were the times and the way it happened. The server uses Software RAID 5, I don't know if that would cause this.
Client computer initiates transfer to server drive.
650mb file -> 13 Minutes to transfer.
Remote desktop to server and initiate transfer from remote drive (client) to local drive (server)
650mb file < 50 seconds.
What gives?
