Can you still share files between them easily, and do LAN Games work correctly?

No change in functionality. As stash pointed out, "one thing Microsoft does consistently is backwards compatibility." SMB1.0 will work with all pre-Vista/Longhorn OS? and SMB2.0 will work only for the new OS generation.
