networking advice sought (what to buy,not how to do it)

Hi there. I have a couple of quick networking questions:

1. has anyone had any experiences good or bad with the Charter Pipeline cable broadband service. Specifically in Connecticut if possible, or with Charter in general.

2. Is there a brand or model of cable/DSL router that is clearly better than the rest? i.e., linksys vs D-link, etc.

3. I would like to find a networking appliance that has all of the following functionallity: cable/DSL router (including all the usual stuff like firewall, NAT, etc.) ethernet switch for up to 4 or 5 computers, and print server.

I can find appliances that will do any of the two, but I am having trouble locating a model/brand that will do all three. I understand that I could do all three with Linux and an old PC I have lying around, and I have done that, but my wife doesn't want to have to do anything but turn on her own windows 98 PC and be off and running, so I would like to find an appliance that can cover these functions for our home network.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated...Thanks in advance
