Networking a whole bunch of dot matrix printers

Let's say I have a mess of Okidata Microline 420 printers, and I'm not allowed to directly connect them to PC's. So I have to make them network printers, but I can't get a hold of the OKIlan modules (too expensive anyway.)

The only solution I can gather is to use those small, 1 port USB print servers. Am I missing any other solutions?

Yeah...those things are stupid expensive. I still have to deal with impact printers with mainframe, and the I/O boxes often cost more than new computers.

I try to find beater PC's with working parrallel ports and use them as ad hoc print servers. NT4 works the best, but so will Win98. More reliable that print server gadgets.
