I need to network 2 machines, (no internet). I know I can use a crossover cable. I also need to share 1 printer for the two machines. I would like to do it wirelessly. Is it possible to do both? EDIT
I forgot that I need to share a USB scanner also.
Assuming that the two computers are within Wireless range.
Option 1. Buy two Wireless cards install one on each computer configure them to Ad-Hoc mode (that is the Wireless version of crossover). Once they are connected, you can share the printer as it is usually done (Sharing as nothing to do with Wireless).
Option 2. Buy a Wireless cable/DSL Router and connect one computer with a cable to the Router. Put a Wireless Card in the second computer configure the Network and Share via Windows Sharing.
Option 2 should be similar or few $$$ more than option 1 but it would provide you the substrate to future increase in Network use since option 1 is for two computers only.
Log to this page it has a lot of links to instructions to Windows Network Settings, and Sharing.
