Right now i have a cisco 678 router for my broadband and i have static ip plus 5 extra ip addresses, i need to know what i need to buy so i can hook up my extra comp to my internet and be able to use one of my other ip addresses, i know i dont want to go the way of putting in a cable between the 2 comps since i believe this wont do me much good for seperate ip, and i dont mind spending a few bucks to get things done right, and also i dont want to use wireless. If i need to give more info here than i did just say so but i hope this will do in getting some help and thanks to all that do .

If you have a router, that's all you need. Plug one computer into one of the ports and the other computer into one of the other ports. If you were given 5 extra IP addresses from your ISP, you can statically program them into the computers manually. Or just stick the main static IP into the router and let the router give out IP addresses to the computers on its own.

Get an autosensing switch. Plug one end of a network cable into the switch and one end into the cisco router port. Plug both of your computer's network connections into the switch. Set the static IP Address for each machine under TCP/IP in the network adapter properties on each machine. Make sure you put in the proper default gateway, subnet mask, and DNS server addresses (or WINS if you are using it) as well. or http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=17-111-009&depa=5 or something similar. These are less than $30 shipped.
