I'm trying to figure out how to connect to a laser printer here at work. I know the IP of the printer (29.1.1.95) and all the other details. It's on the same network as i am - but i have no clue how to add this as a printer.

Any help is appreciated. Thanks guys

start..settings...printers

double click "add new printer"

then select a "network printer"

and then you can browse the network for it, or you may just enter the IP in directly

if you're truly connected to it on the network, it should find it and add it.

It doesn't find it when i search for the printer on the network.. I also tried typing in the IP and had no luck with that also. Ok i guess it isn't setup proplery on the network afterall. The OS i'll be setting this up on is unfortunately, ME. We use the laserjet currently to interact with our distribution software (Eclipse) for printing invoices, reports, etc etc.. Which is run off a *nix machine. So i guess the new question is how to setup the network properly to identify the printer.

I appreciate the help

is the printer an HP?

if so, you can usually install HP jetadmin or webadmin or something (d/l from HP site)

and you can add a printer from anywhere in the world.

Since it's a networked printer and I assume it's not connected to a computer you should be able to add it using the "add printer" wizard. When you start the wizard click on the "local printer" dial and click next-->next-->Then on the "select printer port" page choose "create new port"-->pick "standard tcp/ip port" click next-->it will then bring up another wizard from which you should be able to follow on your own.
