Networked NetCams D-link DCS900 How to?

I need a little education on using those networked netcams, like D-links DCS900. The cam has a power and network connector, thats all. Your suppose to be able to type in the camera's IP address, from and java enabled brouser, and see your cam from anywhere on the net. So, all these D-link cams have the same IP address. Also, most are plugged into routers along with your cable highspeed service. What I cant grasp is how "your" cam can be viewed when all these D-link cams have the same IP address? There must be more to it?

You are confusing private addresses with internal addresses.Private addresses start with 192.168.xxx.xx, 172.xxx.xxx.xxx and 10.xxx.xxx.xxx . Public addresses are the addresses left that are not used for other reasons. Your router routes between the public Interent and your network. All the Internet sees is your router's public address. That way more than one person can use same ips internaly within their network.
