network works until wep is on

I have a linksys wrt54gs router and a wusb11 usb adapter(Windows xp SP2). Whenever I try to enable WEP the network doesnt want to connect(I'm keeping wep because of my nintendo ds). And whenever I put a mac filter w/o wep it still doesn't seem to work. Any ideas?
