Network wide synced music?

I've got my music on a NAS and can access it from any number of computers in the house; desktop. netbook, iPhone, iPad, O!Play included. I've been wondering whether it is possible to have the different devices simultaneously play the same music such that, when one walked from area-to-area, the different devices would be synced. The effect would be a continuous stream everywhere in the house.

Does this exist?

You can use VLC to stream in a multitude of formats across a network, and you'd need a client on each device that could receive and play the stream.

Would the music be seamless in moving from device to device? Seems likely to me that they would be out of sync.

Time syncing devices like that isn't easy. You may end up wasting more time on this than you like.
