Network Usage = Mouse/USB Lag

Having a little problem here. when I put any real load on my network card on my desktop I get really bad mouse lag (eg. if you were to move the mouse across the screen it would do it in jumps or if you were to try and place the cursor over a dot in the middle of the screen it would jump from one side to another)

Setup
the NIC is a Intel PRO 10/100/1000 and is an onboard NIC (IC7-MAX3)
Router is a D-Link DGL-4300 (10/100/1000 + 54g/108 Wireless)
Windows XP Pro (SP2 + All recent patches)
Logitech G7 Wireless mouse (have tried others as well)

-CPU usage stays low during transfers and does not spike
-The system itself is not laged (you can use the keyboard and eveything still runs smooth)
-the "mouse lag" starts at around 4% Network Utilization (4% of 1Gbps)
-I have tried it at 100Mbps and it still happens (~24-5% Netowork Utilization)
-I have tried multiple driver versions

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance!

-Jeff

The usb controller sits on the southbridge, which also handles the onboard NIC, so it could be overloaded by running both at once.

Try a PCI NIC and see what happens.
