Hi, this is my setup:

1 4port hub
2 nics on each of my 2 computers
1 cable modem

my cable modem is connected on the uplink port of the hub, and the two computers are on the first two ports of my hub. At this point, i dont even care about sharing the internet connection. I cant even get the two computers networked!!! The furthest i got was being able to see both the computers in the network neighborhood, but when i try to access one of the computers over the network, it says it cant access it, saying it cant see it on the network. I dont get it. Networking is sooo hard!!!

Can you post the operating systems of each machine and the listing under network control panel? Maybe we can work on getting a single one to work and then get the other guy into the mix.

If you have two nics in each computer the first step would be to remove one from each computer so that a PC only has one NIC.

You are right every one can easily over clock the poor CPU but Network is Hard, and need extensive learning

Some Hubs have Uplink ports, but when in use it neutralizes the first port. Make sure that you are using the ports on the hub correctly.

I do not know why you have two NICs in each computer (to keep company?)

Take it one step at the time.

Disconnect the Internet and configure first a working network. WinXP configures TCP/IP automatically, but you have to take care of User permission and sharing.

b]Important:[/b] For the propose of the initial setting, disable all software Firewall (including WinXP native
ICF); disable any active Virus scan or any other utility that might intercept Network Traffic.
