Ok I'm hoping this belongs here in networking and not in some far off section. If it does I'm really sorry.

My problem is that I am unable to accsess one website(pirate site not sure if its ok to post it here) ever since I've moved to my new home. Each time I try and acsess it I get the following error:

Network Error (tcp_error)

A communication error occurred: "Operation timed out"
The Web Server may be down, too busy, or experiencing other problems preventing it from responding to requests. You may wish to try again at a later time.

For assistance, contact your network support team.

I've allready checked and the website is not blocked. I can ping it sucsessfully, and the tracert is succsessful as well. I can't acsess any of its subsidieries either. I've cleared the cache and restarted, acsessed it in Opera and Firefox, via name and ip adress and still no luck.

I have no clue whats going on at the moment. I've done my best to research it but most awnsers are for people who can't ping the website. Any help at all would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Ping, traceroute and making TCP connection are 3 completely different things. It's possible that your ISP is just blocking port 80 to that host or block of addresses. Can you telnet to port 80 on that host?

Ok I googled telnet and this is what i input into the telnet client

open demonoid.com [80]
Connecting to demonoid.com...Could not open connection to the host, on port [80]
: Connect Failed

I get the same thing when trying to get to google.com so I'm assuming that port 80 has been blocked so I'll need to foward it throught the router? I followed theseinstructions to foward ports and was still unsucssessful.

Any ideas or did i do something wrong?

Forwarding ports is to enable someone else to connect directly to one of your machines behind your router, it can't help you get around your ISP's restrictions.

type the following into a command prompt...

telnet website 80

If you get a blank screen type in GET and hit return. The webserver should return an error. If you don't get a blank screen or anything in return, you are unable to connect to that website.

It's either blocked somewhere or it isn't running.

I have a very good idea.:light:

Call the ISP and ask if they are blocking the spoken about Sites.

So if it's blocked by the ISP then I'm outta luck?

Not really, if you can find a proxy to go through you can still get there but that'll be a violation of their TOS and if said site is a BT site I doubt you'll find a proxy that'll let you connect to the tracker too.

Ok. Thanks for the help. Honestly it's not that big of a loss but it was rather convient. The strange thing is it's only that site that doesn't show up, and for sites that are blocked there is a very definite: This site is blocked message.

Anyways, thanks for the help guys.
