I was going to see if anyone knew of any good .msi packaging tools. I'm looking for something for free or even just a resource page to help me learn how to use Windows2000 to install software to clients in the domain. I've searched microsoft's site, but am looking for any other resources. Thanks!

Look on the windows2000 server CD for a program called Winstall LE
It's in one of the subdirectories (possibly Valueadd or Tools) and allows you to repackage applications to MSI files, then deploy them via group policy.

Next time my win2kserver CD is at hand, I'll post the exact location.

Good luck with re-packaging BTW, quite a few applications are a little tricky...

Thanks. I'm not exactly looking forward to it, but I need to learn a couple of tricks here and get good at them so I'll still have a job...this is my first week working as an Admin and I have minimal experience with servers...but I'm only 21 and I'm not doing to bad since I actually got this far. :)

I appreciate your post and I'll grab the cd and check it out. Thanks!

I found it...the program is in the 3rd party software and is made by Veritas... Once again, I appreciate your post. Now I get to play with for a while and see if I can get it to work. Thanks!:)
