Network shares - what would cause this ?

There not viewable in Network but when I type //(name of network share computer) I can get to the network pc with the folders listed shared fine. Of course first I got to enter the username and password.

How do I fix?

Go to network and sharing center and in sharing settings, you have to enable network discovery for the location profile your computer is using (public or private):

Windows networking is basically a Rube Goldberg invention:

Try these:
1. All the services are running: Server, Computer Browser, Network, etc
2. Network card properties are ticked: Link-Layer and file sharing etc.
3. Firewall is setup properly.
