does anyone know how to monitor your network connections using XP Pro? I know you can see how the network is doing but i need to know who is connected to my computer because someone has been up loading viruses on it. I want to catch this bastard. I have downloaded a few ip recorders but all they do is le tme knwo when malicious activity has occurred and does not give me an ip address. If there is something like 98SE had such as Netwatcher please let me know

if someone is able to load viruses on your computer, theres obviously a problem there (unless you're running an anonymous ftp server, but then youd be crazy not to be logging). Im not sure about any winxp network logging, but you can just get a firewall like zonealarm. thatll pretty much solve all your problems

There's a MCC program named Computer Management that let's you see who's connected to your shared folders. That's located in Administrative Tools. You can also run "netstat" from the command line to see more connections.

4 step process: Backup, Format, Reinstall, Recover. Do not forget that Windows products are insecure and should be supplimented by a GOOD firewall, or preferably forgotten. DO NOT EVER CONNECT AN UNPATCHED WINDOWS MACHINE TO THE INTERNET. Simple huh?

You can also download windump or ethereal and use those to capture the information going to and from your machine. If you can read it obviously. Oh, and forget about revenge, you sound lame.
