Network problem, please help.

Here's my network setup.

Cable modem->m0n0wall (ip 192.168.1.1)->8 port switch->4 port Netgear wireless router (dhcp turned off, ip 192.168.1.100)

Both m0n0wall and Netgear are on the same subnet mask 255.255.255.0.

All computers have internet connections.

Computers connected wireless through Netgear can share but not ping computers on the switch.

Problem, computers connected through the 4 port on Netgear cannot ping or share files with computers on the switch. I can't figure it out, its all on the same subnet. Ip of computer connected on the 4 port Netgear is 192.168.1.96 and computer on switch is 192.168.1.11. And both on subnet mask 255.255.255.0. Thanks in advance to anyone who can shed some light on the issue.

You guys may ask why don't I forgo m0n0wall and just use Netgear->switch. Problem is the router can't handle 5mbps constant download 24/7. My 8 port Linksys router died because of this and I think only a real computer aka m0n0wall can handle this and I also need the VPN feature of m0n0wall.

Could be a lot of things....either a problem with your firewall or the netgear router.

don't assign the 192.168.1 address to the WAN port of the wireless router, but to the LAN interface. Make up one for WAN. Plug the switch into one of the LAN interaces on the netgear to turn it into an AP.

Problem solved. I had to disable SPI firewall on the Netgear router. I can now share files now but I still cannot ping the other computers. Is that normal?
