Network printing w/ Lexmark 1000?

Once upon a time, before a driver upgrade and 2 or three os upgrades, my 1000 used to work fine as a network printer. Now, according to Lexmarks website, this printer does not support the feature, and I can't even use their workaround to get it to work. Any one else get it to work using win98se and the latest driver, or what combination do you use to make it work??
