Has anyone had experience with the ZyXEL PL-100.

Currently I am using a wireless router in Mixed Mode. G for Laptop, and B for my TiVO (TiVO can't operate with a G adapter). Running a network cable isn't worth the hassle, but if I could spend ~$130 and get TiVO off wireless it would be very convenient.

So has anyone used powerlines for network? My homes is 3 years old so the power lines should be good, right?

i'd look for an external G adapter that hooks up to the ethernet port. Plug it into your desktop for configuring (usually via a web interface), then move it over to the TiVo

You are incorrect, TiVo definitely supports 802.11g adapters, as of about a year and a half ago. As a matter of fact, TiVo will even sell you the gear themselves (at a healthy markup, of course... source it elsewhere for a better price).

I have never been a fan of powerline networking. My house was only 10yrs old at the time I tried it, and it never worked right. But if you refer back to the above, this should be moot anyway.

Fixed, but again, this isn't necessary. Bridges cost much more than standard usb wifi adapters do.

One of the other issues, as I understood it, is that you can't use WPA for security.

Also, I've seen posts about that TiVO adapter, on TiVO's community forum, that the adapter actually does some of the processing and speeds up downloads. Do you think that could be believed?

If I can use G, and get off of WEP, than I'd rather go that route.
