I'm running a @home cable network on a 4-port SMC 10/100 router, all OS's are WinME(bleh gaming on Win2k still isnt as good:( ). Anyways, my friend recently came over and brought his computer, so I proceed to hook it up only to find out it drops once engaged in internet games (halflife, infantry, everquest, aliens vs predators, quake3). I have replaced the NIC twice with a NIC i know works for sure, and have made the settings identical to mine. Whenever entering a game the network will basically "drop" and lose connection totally, although when it is "dropped" the link light on the back of the network card continues to blink. I have tried almost everything to my knowledge, and I thank you in advance for your support.

Are you both trying to join the same game? If so, I believe you have to set up your main computer as a DMZ host. Hope this helps.
