Hello All:

This is my first Post on your forum. I have heard good things about you that's why I came.
I don't know if I'm in the right place so I will explain my problem and you can direct me to the right place okay?

Here is the back ground info:

I have a small home network set up and working properly. It's a cable modem and a Linksys BFSR41 router. Running 2 computers
.
Problem.

I am trying to set up a 3rd computer as a server. I want to be able to display my own web page and then move on to setting up a small email server and ftp server.
so far I have a domain name and it's registered and set up with zoneedit.com. I am running Win 98SE and PWS on this would be srever.

I can access a temp. home page by typing in 192.168.1.102. But I can not get to it any other way. I have not configured anything in win 98>control panel>network , do I have to.

Am i on the right track or should I be doing this totally different?

Please help me out as I'm getting very frustrated...

Thanks very much.

For your internal machines to get to the web server, you will have to do one of 3 things.

1. Use the IP address of the webserver.
2. Setup the domain name to IP mapping in the HOSTS file on each internal machine.
3. Setup your own DNS server.

To get to your server from the outside world, you will have to forward the proper ports on your router to your webserver.

Port 80 is the webserver.

If zoneedit supports dynamic IPs, you need a program to update the IP at zoneedit when your local IP changes.
Otherwise you can check to see what IP your router has pulled and enter it at zoneedit.

Okay!! I can now acess my temp web page using my domain name www.teeb.ca. Now i want to publish a web page using frontpage 200. I'm using PWS 4.0 and I can't get the page to publish. If i don't get an error telling me about server extensions not being installed then it tells me that I'm trying to execute a cgi, isapi or other program.
I'm sure it installed server extensions when i installed PWS 4.0
What can I do?

not to thread crap on ya....

but JackMDS... how about some links for some CCNA braindump sites...? (I can ask for these on here right?)
