Network login from XP pro to server 2000 sp4

I have several XP Pro machines installed, trying to log into a 2000 server sp 4. These machine have hardwired IP #. Small network less than 20 computers, some running NT 4.0, 2000, and XP Pro. All the machines login to the server within a reasonable time. The XP Pro machines take up to 10 minutes? I have been surfing for this issue today, and that's what brought me to this site. There was a link here but the link has gone bad. Any way if anyone could help out with this, that would be great.

Make sure that the DNS information is correct on the XP machines.

Something you could try would be to change the Primary DNS on each of the XP boxes to be the IP of the 2000 Server.

You should search on Microsoft's Support site; here's a LINK that addresses this very issue.

Another site also pointing to DNS as a likely cause of slow logins with XP.

Yeah, definately make sure your DNS is squared away. Using DDNS is the best way to ensure this.
