Network Issue

Ok I have a network set up, the first computer uses the onboard 10/100Mbit lan its a Abit NF7-S motherboard and the other computer is a compaq with 10/100Mbit onboard lan. I am using a Net Gear RP114 router (LAN: 10BASE-T or 100BASE-TX) to share comcast cable internet and do the networking.

What I need to know is why am I getting so slow of file sharing over it from computer to computer like a 4 MB file takes 2 hours to send. Did I not set something up to tell it to run at 100Mbit not 10Mbit.

P.S. - Both computers are running Windows XP Pro SP1.

Thanks.

Not sure what your issue could be, but I can say that it's NOT just that you're getting a 10Mbit connection instead of 100. For most applications and short transfers, the speed difference between them is almost imperceptible. Maybe you could check for upgraded firmware for your router?

Wow after all the stuff I been doing in the last week to get it going faster I did without noticing, now I am sending files pretty fast 50 megs in 45 seconds. That not to bad..
