Network Inventory Management/Asset Tracking Application?

Ok, I have a pre-existing network and they are currently using an Access Database to track all of the hardware assets here. Needless to say, it isnt working out very well.

Well, I prefer to have a bit more information. Things like Processor speed/ram installed/HD space/Software and anything else I can get.

We asset tag everything, so I need to be able to enter things like monitors and whatnot manually.

Would be nice for it to export to a flat file or something I could eventually import into a MySQL database.

We have an AD setup so it would be kinda nice to not have to install something on EVERY SINGLE pc (all 2000+ of them).

Anyone have any suggestions for me? I would prefer to stay with a vendor that has been in business for a while and has good support in case something goes wrong.

Yes, I did a search, and yes I came up with about 250 products that fit somewhat my description. Just looking for some advice on what might be a good (and cheap!) solution!

I used it at my last job, it ROCKS, you schedule when you want it to update(daily, weekly?), and at boot it'll scan the computer for hardware and software and will drop it into a database.

Ok still looking for answers. Tried the one listed above, but it wants me to set up a database before I can view anything

You may want to look at Track It. We used to use this for asset management before we went with SMS. I believe there is a client that you can install on each machine to keep the database up to date. YOu should be able to package this and send it out via AD easily.
