I have to go through what looks like 6 servers before hitting "the net". ARRGGGG its pissing me. A group of fricken monkeys could manage this crap better, by flinging it at the walls. AHHHHH! I'm getting 500 pings in most games and some of them wont even respond. What should I do? They call this a "service" BULLSH!T!!!!111oneone!! I suprised I can even post this topic!!!

MySpeed Results
Download 1,264 bps
Upload 25,632 bps
QOS 99%
RTT 344 ms
MaxPause 0 ms

more of a rant than network problems so I put it here and not "Networking"

pipes are full of peer-2-peer and port downloading.

happens all the time. hopefully your school will wise up and ban that crap.

Apparently haven't yet covered the differences between "greater than" and "less than", have they?

Today when I hopped on the net at home I noticed everything was CRAWLING. Went through all the troubleshooting steps and I realize my roommate is running BT and has unlimited upload so our upload was maxed. I promptly unplugged his computers from my switch.

It's definately not BT torrent or anthing like that... see if you looked closely you'd notice that routing hell that is my network. we have to go through 2 routers. so when some one wants to send something to my IP it has to get routed twice. thus accounting for the 25% packet loss. totally gay.

And you think that's uncommon? It's normal. Chances are the problem is p2p.

The thing is this is an art school and nobody knows about bittorrent, along with that, everyone uses itunes (blech), and I'm pretty sure they've blocked the ports for WinMx and Kazaa. and when I said gateways I meant routers. is that common (didn't know it was) like they're not using the same routing table so say 5 routers share the same ip address, and then 200 computers share the ip address that they got from that first router, so like 1000 comps sharing one ip.

Why would routers be sharing the same IP address? Unless they're load balancing, I don't think I've ever seen anything like that.

Sharing one external IP address among a number of internal hosts is normal.

Maybe you should spend less time on the internet and more time in class. I suggest an English class, and perhaps a sociology class.

Just because I spell words incorrectly does not mean that I lack the ability to actually spell. Plus,,, you're late on the punch, MichaelD already reamed me for it.
