Untill recently I had set up a network with my laptop (win 98se) and desktop (win ME)and everything was working fine. However, I recently upgraded my OS on the desktop to Win 2000 and I am using the ntfs file system. I thought these two computers should be able to recognize each other but they dont. Everytime I look in the network properties to see other comps I only see the comp I am using. I tried to look up properties in my lan connections but everything seems to be ok. What gives. I have uninstallled and installed protocals but still no go. I want to use TCIP as the protocal. Argghh. Does anyone have som suggestions. CAn Win 2000 with ntfs work with 98se fat32?

Any suggestions?

Windows 2000 allows for fat32 filesystems on other machines to communicate with NTFS... however, with earlier versions of NT, this is not possible..

in a quick and basic answer
yes fat32 will see ntfs if they are on two different computers networked together.
so if everything is config'd correctly then the computers should see each other.
