I have a 4 Port DLink router. All ports are used up. I am wondering if i can connect a 5th computer in there? Via a crossover cable from one machine to the 5th maybe? All Machines are WinnXP except the 5th which is WinME. Any in put is appreciated 🙂
If you have the money, then you can purchase a switch and connect it to the 4th port. For my router, I can just use a straight-through cable but you might need to use crossover to connect the switch to the hub. They're cheap these days. Hope this helps.
switch is def the easiest. You can grab one of somewhere like newegg for 20 bucks...maybe a netgear or something? It's easier than doing the extra NIC and crossover thing.
