network experts please help

in my home there's my computer, the wife's computer, and our laptop. the WORKGROUP is only available when my wife's computer is on, then all the computer can see each other. when her machine is off, the laptop won't be able to see my computer and vise versa. internet works fine tho...

any ideas?

I imagine you should be able to access each computer via ip address still since you said the inetnet works fine. Just go to Start->Run and type "\\<Machine IP>".

do you have "Netbios disabled over TCP/IP" checked in the network configuration ??

I'm not a network guru.. but also make sure the "Computer Browser" service is running on all the systems...
