Well, I found out why no one who knows anything about IT at all doesn't respect the Net+ Exam. Went in at 9 a.m. yesterday to take it with absolutely no preperation. You need a 554 out of 900 I got a 734. 554 is like what? 60% of the total score?! WTF is up with that?

I would say  execpt that my boss paid for it, and I got a dollar an hour raise for passing.

900 is the top score? Damn, guess my 864 was pretty good. :p

But yes, it really is a quite simple exam. I grabbed a cram exam book and a couple study sights and had it ready to go in 3 days of studying.

I'm actually more worried about passing the A+.

It means you know at least a good bit about networking but actual experience with networking >>>>>>>>>>>>>>> than any type of certificate.

Exactly, but you have to get your foot in the door some how. All of the CompTIA exams are good entry level certs. My boss is paying for my net+ and linux+ now. They are good basic knowledge, and I don't plan on computers for my carreer.

If I did that, I probably could have done a bit better. Its not like they put your score on your certificate so I wouldn't care if I got a 555.

I'm taking teh A+ next month. My boss told me every cert is worth another dollar. Then I'll get security+ and linux+ and go on from there...

its a BASIC exam...
its not supposed to mean anything except you understand the essentials...

now when you feelign froggy.. take some Cisco or M$ networking tests.. those are the ones that show what you really know...
(especially the MCSE/MCSA2003 tract they increased the difficulty 10 fold over 2000 and previous versions)

This is true, but a 60% to pass? If you only knew 60% percent of what you were talking about, thats a lot of crap you can fvck up.

About how much does the test cost? If it's that easy, maybe it's the one I should start with.

Sign up for their mailing list. I just got an email for a $99 Network+ voucher a few days ago. Get in soon, I think Comptia is jacking the price up to almost $250 a pop now.

Note to Comptia: An expensive test doesn't make it a respected test. Especially with such lax passing criteria.
