I use a 2610 with an Async32 attached to connect to the console ports of a lot of network hardware here in my local datacenter.

I just received a Nortel Passport 7480 (ATM Switch) . I need to get this guy on my terminal server. I AM able to connect directly with my laptop into the DB9 console port, but when I connect it to my terminal server I cannot get in. It just hangs.

Anyone have any suggestions ?

I have tried manual and autodecting Baud rates (9600 worked fine from the laptop)

I have tried with Hard, Soft and NO flowcontrol.

I have tried new cables, connectors, etc.

BTW..I am sure this thread will get moved pretty quickyl, but I can say from personal experience that a lot of very intelligent Anandtechers NEVER go to those Higly Technical forums, and I rarely get a responce from those. So hopefully my fellow OTers will have an idea.

Try Networking forum...

specifically: spidey07, Garion, ScottMac...most likely to have seen/configured this type of setup
