so my gf has some shit laptop from some random company that came with no disks. she now needs the drivers for the laptop since she had to do a reinstall of windows XP. I told her to download cpuz and she downloaded the intel chipset drivers (I think she did this right although she lives in another state so I can't do it for her and I can't be sure). what other drivers do you need? she has a wireless network card but I don't know what kind. I thought you could just go to device manager and it would be listed under network adapters but the only thing in that list is 1394 net adapter which is just firewire I thought. what do I tell her? also if there is onboard video does she still need additional display adapter drivers?

best bet is to google the model and model number followed by driver downloads

I did some searching but I'm not able to find any information on a "shit laptop" model made by "some random company". It sounds like an interesting computer. ;)

Either go to the manufacturer's web site and download the drivers for the computer, or do as Intexity said and see if one of the many independent driver download sites has the files that you need. Or...post the actual computer model number and manufacturer and we can try to find the drivers for you.

Edit: Since you did post one specific item, I'll start with that. The Intel 950 display adapter is just a minor update to the 945 chipset. Go here and click on the Chipset Identification Utility link to run a program that will tell you exactly which display and motherboard chipset is in the laptop. Then, go here to download the appropriate chipset drivers for the laptop, and here to download the drivers for the display adapter.

I'm sorry I didn't have that information when I made the original post. I figured out what computer she had, looked up the specs, and found everything except the display adapter drivers. sorry I didn't make that more clear in my last post.
