Hey guys. I am just wondering, what software packages do you or your companies use to keep track of and document your networks? Pretty much right now, everythign we have is in excel worksheets, and it is really a mess to deal with. I've called around alot of places and no one really has anything. I don't need or want anything that monitors the network, I have tons of those utilities. I'mlooking mor into documenting what I have in use and what I have availible for fibers and such. If anyone has used anything, or seen anything that can do this I would definately appreciate it. Thanks

I heard Cisco had an awesome documentation software package. My teacher(taking semester 2 of CCNA class) is suppose to be finding out the name of the software package. As soon as I found out(monday 24 July) I will let you know.

I was actually playing with Cisco's ConfigMaker program and it allows you to map out your whole network down to the hosts on the network and assign them an IP. You can even use the software to store backups of the routers configuration so if you get the call at 2 in the morning you can zap it in in a jiffy. The down side is that it only has Cisco routers and switches to design and support with. If you have only Cisco great or you can name a cisco router Lucent 1 to get around this. Any way here is the URL and I will check with my teacher to see if this was the software he was talking about or not.
