How do I completely remove any trace of prior NIC installations in Win2K? I had to move my NIC a couple of times to different slots before I found a configuration that worked for me. Each time I uninstalled the card, moved it to the new PCI slot, then reinstalled drivers. The part that bugs me, is each time I reinstalled it, it would number the new install Linksys...#2, #3, #4, etc. Everything works fine and this doesn't affect performance. It just bugs me that my NIC installation is now showing Linksys...#4. How do I get rid of the previous installations so that I can get rid of the # in the NIC name? It's pretty much just cosmetic but it bugs me. Most likely a regedit, right? Anyone know where?

Start... run... cmd

set devmgr_show_nonpresent_devices=1

devmgmt.msc

View... show hidden devices

Delete to your heart's content.

Well that didn't work. It's not letting me uninstall. Says device may be needed to boot the computer. Any other way?
