Network Card slows up start up - boot time?

I was just troubleshooting my comp yesterday when I noticed that without the network card boot up time was considerably faster....Does this happen to everyone else or do I have some unwanted services running in Windows?

I'm running Windows XP SP2 w/all hot fixes

A network card has always been known to cause slowdowns.
Probably slower in the case of a DSL user without a router, as it probes and has nothing to connect to until you are booted into windows and you can dial.

If you have a router, or a cable connection, you usually don't notice these problems... at least in my experiences. 🙂

This is exactly what I have. Any tips on slowing it down?
