Network card question

This may be a real dumb question but do I still need to buy a network card for my pc if my motherboard has Gigabit LAN? Does that just mean the motherboard supports that type network card or does it do the job of the network card itself?

no need to buy a network card, your onboard network card will handle 10/100/1000 connections. you are good to go.

The NIC on the Mobo have a Giga chipset.

Giga is useless for Internet surfing,

To do Giga on your LAN other computers need Giga cards, and you need Jumbo Farme capable Giga Switch.

Otherwise your Giga Card is just a 100mb/sec NIC.
