Network card in PCIe x16 slot?

I'm looking to build a system with a MicroATX board, problem is that I need 1 PCIE x1 slot and at least another x1 slot but preferably an x4 slot. On board video is fine for me, so I'm wondering if most PCIe x16 slots will accept a PCIe x1 network card?
