Recently a client's old powersupply went kaput, so I replaced it with a new Antec Smartpower 350w. I checked the harddrive to make sure the information was still there, and it was. The computer seemed to boot into Windows XP Home SP2 fine after getting everything put back together, so I brought it back to the client this afternoon assuming the rest of the hardware was functioning properly.

The client has a cable modem with service through Time Warner, and I connected the computer back into the Motorola modem just as it had been before. All of the proper lights were lit so I left their house before thoroughly checking connectivity in Windows (I was in a rush). As I was driving back home the client called and informed me that her internet connection wasn't working.

This is what I had her try:

1.) Power cycle the modem and reboot the computer
2.) Check ipconfig and it said the media state was disconnected.
3.) Doublecheck the ethernet cable into the NIC and modem and she said it was plugged in firmly.
4.) Open device manager & uninstall the NIC, then reboot. The NIC was readded upon rebooting. I had her check it again in device manager and for some reason she said it was disabled, so I had her enable it. Still no dice.

At this point I had her call her ISP to make sure the modem was ok, which it was according to them. I will be heading back over there tomorrow to work on it again in person, and was wondering if anyone had an idea what was wrong? The NIC is a Realtek (not sure exact model) that is integrated on the mobo.

EDIT: The powersupply failure happened while she was working in Windows

Bring a copy of the driver (download it from the motherboard's page). Also try going into Properties of My Network Places and disable and re-enable Local Area Connection.
