Hi all,

I just joined these forums, hope you can help with me out.

Anyways, im running ADSL through a standard modem + router config with a BEFSR41 4 port router.

The router randomly disconnects with the bubble "network unplugged" ---> "connection available". So basically it reconnects at random, cutting my games/ downloads at that time.

The internet runs fine when i connect directly to the modem though. My isp also says it is not a server side problem, so im guessing a need a new router? Its werd that a router can just screw up like this...

Thanks in advance.

It could also be your network card. Try replacing it first. Also, it could be just a particular port on the router. Try doing some troubleshooting to narrow the problem down.

Do you have your router's setting "always on" instead of "connects in demand" ?

Ive already transferring the cable to differnt ports and also replaced all the cables.

I dont think its the NIC since its fairly new, and the connection disconnects on other computers connected to the router too.

Yep its on "always on" with a redial period of 30secs.

Got any other suggestions? Could it be anything to do with the router settings?

Routers are less than $40 and you have clearly narrowed it down to the router it sounds.

Is your Modem configure to use the Router?s PPPOE and your PPPOE software is out of the picture?

Did you optemize the TCP/IP on all computers.

Link to: DSL Routers and PPPOE.

If the answer is Yes. Since you stated that ?the connection disconnects on other computers connected to the router too? you should try another Router.
