Network browsing problems with WEP enabled

When I enable WEP on my Siemens Speedstream wireless router, I can get on the internet from my laptop (using Dell Truemobile card w/ WinXp), but I have problems browsing the network. I can see the other computer, but when I click on a folder on that computer, it just hangs for about 10-15 minutes, and then finally opens that folder.

It didn't seem to do this without WEP enabled, so I'm assuming that has something to do with it.

Can anyone think of a reason behind this, and how I can fix it?

Thanks

Overhead or not, I can't imagine it freezing the network browsing process so that it takes 10 minutes to get into a folder, can it?

I know that without WEP, there would often be some lag when trying to open a network folder, but certainly not this bad. There must be some kind of a solution?
