I have a router to connect my network segments. Do I need (or want) a network bridge?

My other computers run W2K.

what do your 2 networks do?

in my case the answer was no.

I have a 100mb line that connects all the rigs to a router-thus internet
and a gigabit line that direct connects my media box to the working rig for fast data transfers.

when I bridged XP would force internet traffic across the gigabit lan through the work machine and then out to the router.

for me it was no good, but if you had say, 2 different networks and you wanted them to see each other than you might try bridging.

Just one network - just want them all to see one another and share files. XP seems determined not to let that happen over the LAN connection (it worked for a while but then quit and now I am trying to make it happen again).

I'll disable the bridge and see what happens...

hey guyz...I have a pretty simple, well not simple to me, but hopefully simple to you guyz. i have 2 comps @ home that share my cox hispeed internet connection. I also want both comps to share 1 printer. I have norton firewall, 2003 i believe, and it won't allow me to share files. i tried to run the network wizard on the windows xp cd (i have pro on both comps), but it still won't work...is there a setting i'm missing within the firewall for this to happen? if i uninstall 1 fiewall, the 1 on the comp that has the printer attached to it, we can share files, printer etc...help please? thank you in advance!!!

asskiwi, just be sure you have file and print shareing enabled on both PC's, and then right click on any disc's or files you want to share, and click "sharing and security" give it a name, and check all the little boxes that apply.

thats pretty basic, if you have questions ask, or go to jack's site, he knows his sh!t.
