HI everyone,
I am new here 🙂
I recently networked a Satellite A70 RT1 running XP through my Network Everywhere NWR04B wifi router to an old Celeron 400 running Win2k through LAN on that same router.
I then tried to install file sharing on the laptop (I had it installed on the desktop to retrieve files through an ftp) but then my ftp transfers (usually in the 500k) dropped and actually stopped. I investigated a bit and found out that the network bridge that XP installed through its networking assistant was the reason why they had slowed down so much.
I know that coz the minute I deleted the network bridge, the ftp speeds went right back to normal. Now, my question is as follows: I dont quite understand what the bridge does and why it would slow down speeds so much.
Does anyone have a take on that one?
Thanks again!
