how do you network boot to install winxp . i have a laptop with a pxe enabled boot rom, all i've read is i need someting called remote install serveer for windows 2000 server. but i dont want to have install windows2000 server.

i have a normal desktop with windows xp pro on it, is there any way, to make it boot from network and think its a cdrom drive without me having to install windows 2000 server on another machine

I dont believe so, the windows 2000 remote install server is setup so you can have a 2000 server and install 2k on a machine without needing the CD. Unless anyone knows differantly?

i saw a piece of software called storagesoft pxe server which seemed like it would do the trick. has anyone used this?

i do have a cdrom for my laptop, but i was thinking of selling it since thats the only thing i use it for. if i could sell it i'd get around $200 with its expansion base, and that would be much needed money.
