Network Auditing/Inventory Software

Just wondering if you guys could help me out. I'm looking to implement some software that will allow me to have a live inventory of all the machines on a domain. I want very detailed information, such as installed software, product keys, running tasks, hardware installed, etc. Does anyone know of such software that will provide live, up-to-date information that can be accessed at any time? Any big names out there that corporations are using? Let me know what you all think.

Thanks alot!

SysAid

We deployed Sysaid last year in our company for audit/inventory purposes. So far, it's been excellent. You basically setup one server, which allows you to deploy the 'Sysaid Agent' to all of your machines on the domain/network. It pulls all of the hardware specs, and also pulls all of the installed software. This is great if your trying to keep tabs on your Microsoft licensing (you can also input the number of MS licenses that you have paid for, and compare it to the actual number of machines that have that particular piece of software installed).

It also comes with a Help Desk system, which I am about to deploy. Anyway, read through the site. It has a ton of features, and is priced pretty well in my opinion.

PM me if you would like any more specific info...

EDIT: I think you can get a free demo as well if you wanted to try it for yourself.

Altiris has one
Eracent is a big one (but they cost alot)
Centennial Data
Microsoft SMS
several other smaller ones that I forget about

If you want something you can modify (open source) try open-audit.
www.open-audit.org

I've just started using this at work and it gives really really detailed information.

All the hardware, all the software, the keys, the versions. Nice interface...slightly more complicated set up, but worth it in the end.

Only thing is it's not live information, but you could set up a script to run once in a while to do this.
