I setup a small (3) computer network at my home. My computer is the administrator with a network access pasword and the other two computer can be accessed without a password. The problem I am having is that I forgot my admin password to access the administrator computer from the other two computers. How do I reset this password? I am using WinXP. I had asked others before but they keep mistaking that password as the windows sign-in password. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Do you have direct access to the admin computer? Can you log into it locally? If so, you can reset it that way...

You really shouldn't use the administrator account for anything except for administration/repair of the system. It would be better to use a regular account for the access from the other computers.

Having said that, you can reset the administrator password or any other password from the User Accounts applet in the Control Panel.

Assuming that you can log as an Admin while on the Admin computer.

If you configured correctly the Win 7 Work Network Sharing this might help.

Security and Permission.

Point to the folder to be share. Right click and choose properties.
In the properties, Click on the Security tab (shown in the pic bellow to the right) and check that the users and their permission (shown in the pic bellow center and left) are correctly configured. Then do the same to the Permission tab.

In both the Security panel, and the Permission panel you have to highlight each User/Group and examine that the Permission Controls are checked correctly.
When everything is OK, Reboot the Network (Router, and computer).

I had asked others before but they keep mistaking that password as the windows sign-in password.

Can you clarify what you mean by that statement?

The credentials you use to log on to the computer locally and the credentials you use to log on to the computer over the network should be the same if you're using the same username.
