I kid you not

Yes it's a full time job. The bottom of the pay range works out to about $8.30 an hour. IIRC Oregon minimum wage is $8.50. If you have 5 - 6 years of experience you might earn as much as someone working at Wal-Mart.

Applicants must be proficient in all Microsoft operating systems, server OS's, firewalls, managed switches, security layouts, medical and billing software, hardware virtualization. Proficiency in PC/Apple hardware & software.

It sounds more like they're looking for a best buy shift manager, but wanted to use fancy words they didn't understand.

Supply and demand.

Demand is low and supply is high.

Demand isn't that low for experienced system engineers. As someone above said, this guy is looking for a Geek Squad manager and didn't have the slightest clue on how to phrase it, so he plucked a few buzzwords out of PC World and off of other postings on CareerBuilder.

$29k is £17k, for a starting salary that's about average for an IT job over here.

For the requirements they listed, I'd say that person would get in the upper $40K range to upper $50K range at most places in the midwest and more with a degree.

Not for qualified IT professionals. Huge demand and tiny supply.

This. Those that nickel and dime and hire on the cheap are going to pay one way or another, and likely to a consultant to clean up the mess left by their "bargain" employee. :D

Yeah, after looking I'd say that's a £25k / £30k Job... Which is $41K / $49K

Does seem cheap but going from £25 to £17 isn't a huge drop if it's a crap company.

Look at the location on google maps. It's a small repair shop. How many $40-50k network admins do you know that work next to vacuum world and jiffy lube? Anyone that does any basic research on the company already knows its not really a network admin job.

Edit: Thinking about it, it's just for very basic IT jobs, not "admins"
I turn down an offer of £22k right out of school for IT work in London England more than a decade a go.

It all depends on your location, but $29K anywhere in the US/Canada is low salary IMHO.

£22k is not a bad starting salary, for London it's not great though...

The pay ranges from $1440 to $2400/month. Even at $2400, that is $29K per year and is very, very poor.

Yep.. agreed. I get paid.. $17 per hour as a TA. Granted, I can only work for 20 hours a week.. still the pay is abysmal for that kind of work.
