Network Adapter Disappearing

Hey all, I've got a problem with my integrated network port on my system. I'm using Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit (retail). It's an Intel 82578DC Gigabit network adapter on a DFI P55-T36 motherboard and it fails to work properly every other time I start my PC.

At first, I thought it was a corrupt driver or similar issue. The local area connection icon in the Network Connections window disappears after entering the OS. But after installing drivers, uninstalling them, and tweaking the system multiple times, the only way I can get a network connection again is by restarting the computer. Once I shutdown, the problem happens again.

Do you guys have any experience or knowledge of the issue? Online solutions don't seem to be working.

Well, here's some good news. I got the adapter to work for the past 6 boots by changing some settings.

1. Enabled Wake from S1, S3, S4, S5 in properties menu of Intel network adapter in device manager.
2. Disabled and re-enabled the quick-boot option in the BIOS.
